Bundaberg Base Hospital

- Toys for the Emergency Department and Child Family Health Department as part of their distraction therapy

- Wii console, equipment (such as Wii Fit, Fit Step-up, Sports Resort and Motion Plus) and accessories

This will to assist children with conditions such as cystic fibrosis and Duchenne to undertake aerobic exercise necessary to maintain muscle strength. The only other forms of aerobic exercise to assist with their respiratory function is rowing, swimming or bicycle riding - two of which are extremely difficult in a hospital setting.

- Body Worx A790 Exercise Bike

To again assist these children and help them undertake necessary aerobic/cardiovascular exercise in a fun way.

- Masimo Rad-5: a hand-held pulse oximeter which provides continuous monitoring of patients undergoing physical activity

- A number of physiotherapy paediatric resources which includes medical books and other equipment to assist in physical therapy of children.

- Portable Easyone Spirometer which helps monitor lung capacity in children with lung conditions.

- Vest Airway Clearance System - a medical device used primarily with children who have Duchenne or Cystic Fibrosis to help shift secretions which can build up on their chest. A vest is worn by the child and the machine helps lift the mucus from the lungs to prevent chest infections.
