Giving 5 Makes a Difference
Regional Australia has once again shown its incredible generosity!
Throughout June 2009, 32 Macquarie Southern Cross Media Radio Stations and 13 Television Stations across Australia conducted the annual GIVE ME FIVE FOR KIDS appeal.
Macquarie Southern Cross Media’s, GIVE ME FIVE FOR KIDS is a community based appeal that raises money for Children’s Wards and Children’s services at local hospitals. The key to the appeal’s success is that money raised locally is spent locally.
This multi-faceted fund raiser incorporates a wide variety of community events and activities and of course, the all important collection tin drive.
This year Macquarie Southern Cross Media raised over $968,000 in donations!
Macquarie Southern Cross Media CEO, Rhys Holleran, said “this year, the GIVE ME FIVE FOR KIDS results have been outstanding, particularly in the current climate. Once again our local communities have dug deep and helped us facilitate a great appeal and a great result. All money raised benefits the many local hospitals in our regions and we are incredibly proud that we can be part of it. I can’t speak highly enough of our own staff who have put there heart and soul into this worthwhile appeal”
Australian Superstar, Keith Urban was a great supporter of this years appeal. One of the many highlights was the chance, for people who made a donation, to win an all expenses paid trip to LA to meet Keith Urban.
GIVE ME FIVE FOR KIDS has made, and is continuing to make, a real difference to the lives of the Children of regional Australia and their families. Plans are already underway for fundraising & events in 2010.
